Cheryl Hunter Fine Art
About the Artist

Cheryl studied art at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. During the summer semester of her second year, she had the wonderful opportunity to study in Perugia Italy at the Università per Stranieri (University for Foreigners). Many years slipped away between that beautiful summer and a serious pursuit of painting again.
In 2018, she started painting regularly again and has sought out the companionship of other artists for friendship and inspiration. Cheryl is largely self-taught, apart from her brief time at university and a few online classes. Much of her technique and knowledge of tools for oil paint have been learned through the excellent books she has consulted over the years. Cheryl enjoys the entire process involved in the creation of an oil painting; from the construction of the stretchers, to stretching the canvas, sizing the canvas, priming the canvas and finally laying on the oil paint.
Her inspiration is drawn from her own personal photos taken in the field during her travels in Colorado and abroad. Consequently, her paintings are predominately landscapes and some wild flowers.
